How to Upload and Chat With Documents

Written by Allison Elechko

Spend less time scrolling and more time analyzing! You can upload your own documents into Consensus, then search and chat across them alongside papers from Consensus.

You can upload published papers as well as your own documents, including manuscripts, experiment proposals, dissertations, clinical protocols, private research reports, and more.

Once uploaded, you can run searches on your documents and organize them into Collections.

Uploads are private and only accessible to you unless you choose to share a Collection that includes them.

If you’re working with a large existing Zotero library, check out this article: How to Import Your Zotero Library into Consensus

Troubleshooting

Why won't my file upload?

  • If your file isn’t uploading, it may be due to one of the following reasons:

    • The file type is not supported

  • The PDF is image-based or scanned rather than text-based

  • The file is too large (50 MB size limit)

  • The text in the file cannot be processed

If you’re still having trouble, please reach out to our support team and include the PDF you’re trying to upload so we can take a closer look.

FAQs
